HALLOWEEN INSPIRED BY COUTURE

Halloween is my favourite time of the year, and this year I have been very inspired in choosing my costumes. I decided to go through various Fall Couture 2013 shows and provide anyone who needs inspiration for the next two weeks with this list which contains some gorgeous outfit ideas by some of the best designers in the world.


Halloween es mi fecha favorita del año, y este año he estado muy inspirada escogiendo mis disfraces. Decidí mirar varias colecciones de Otoño Couture 2013 y hacer esta lista para todos los que necesiten inspiración para las próximas dos semanas. La lista contiene looks divinos hechos por unos de los mejores diseñadores del mundo.

1. Alexis Mabille - Glamorous Witch 

I had not heard much about Alexis Mabille as a designer, however the couture collection is absolutely stunning. Every piece is extremely crafty and unique which is what couture should be. In this collection these two looks stood out to me. I saw them as a high-end way to dress up as a beautiful witch. Lately a lot of movies have changed the image of an ugly, unfashionable witch to one of women of class and stature, like OZ the Great and Powerful. The witch costume is one of the classics of Halloween but why not spice it up and look sexy instead of ugly?

1. Alexis Mabille - Bruja Glamurosa 

Yo no habia escuchado mucho sobre Alexis Mabille como diseñador, pero la colección de couture es absolutamente hermosa. Todas las piezas son únicas y tienen mucha técnica, que es lo que couture debe ser. En esta colección estos dos looks me encantaron, los vi como una manera elegante de disfrazarte como una hermosa bruja. Ultimamente muchas películas como, OZ un Mundo de Fantasia, han cambiado la image de brujas feas, y sin estilo a una de brujas con mucha clase y buen gusto. El disfraz de bruja es un clásico de Halloween pero porque no cambiarlo un poco a algo sexy en ves de lo contrario?

2. Armani Prive - Roaring 20s

Mr. Armani always manages to impress me. Every single one of his pieces is glamorous and delicate, and this collection did not fall short of that. The two looks I chose were not the only ones I could have used for this theme. It seems like his inspiration was the 1920s. Since The Great Gatsby came out this year, and it was such a good movie, based on an even better book, I am sure this costume will be very popular! Cheers to Daisy and her beautiful clothing for helping us with this wonderful costume.

2. Armani Prive - Años 20

El señor Armani siempre me impresiona. Todas sus piezas son glamurosas y delicadas, y esta colección tubo el mismo efecto. Estos dos looks que escogí no eran los únicos que podría haber escogido para este tema. Parece que su inspiración fue la década de los 1920. Como El Gran Gatsby salió este año y fue una película con tanto excito, basada en un libro excelente, estoy segura que este disfraz será muy popular! Gracias a Daisy y su hermoso vestuario por ayudarnos con este maravilloso disfraz.

3. Chanel - Clueless

Karl Lagerfel is one of my idols and a genius in the world of fashion. Every collection by Chanel is always different but it never loses the essence of the brand. In this case I saw that Karl used tweed a lot, which is a representative fabric for Chanel. These two looks reminded me very much of the protagonist of the movie Clueless, Cher. The suit of skirt and jacket of this fabric are characteristic of Cher in this loved classic by all of us girls.

3. Chanel - Clueless

Karl Lagerfeld es uno de mis ídolos y un genio en el mundo de la moda. Las collecciones de Chanel siempre son diferentes pero nunca pierden la esencia de la marca. En este caso vi que Karl utiliso mucho la misma tela, tweed, que es representante de Chanel. Estos dos looks me acordaron mucho a la protagonista de la película Clueless, Cher. El vestido de falda y chaqueta de esta tela son característicos de Cher en esta película tan adorada y clásica para nosotras las mujeres.

4. Giambattista Valli - Red Riding Hood

Valli´s grace and luxurious design and textile choices are always alluring. The Fall Couture 2013 collection was impeccable. These two rich red looks inspired me into thinking of a grown up, and very classy little red ridding hood. The flower-like embellishments add more into the fantasy of the forest she encounters in the story. If a fellow fashionista wants to dress up like this storybook character, these would be her best options!

4. Giambattista Valli - Caperucita Roja

La elegancia, y lo lujoso de el buen gusto de Valli siempre son fascinantes. La colección de Otoño Couture 2013 fue impecable. Estos dos looks de un rojo muy vivo me inspiraron en pensar de una Caperucita mas grande y con mucho estilo. Las decoraciones en forma de flores agregan mas a la fantasía de el bosque en el que ella se encuentra en la historia. Si una fashionista quiere vestirse como este personaje de cuentos, estas serian sus mejores opciones!

5. Jean Paul Gautier - Sexy Kitten

Jean Paul Gaultier always makes his shows sexy and fun. He brings a corkiness into fashion that only he manages to achieve, keeping the clothing tasteful. The variety he shows always inspires. I saw these two looks and thought that they were a fun, different and creative way of doing the kitty costume. The cat costume is one of the most popular and easy costumes to throw on every Halloween. Jean Paul Gaultier uses the dominating pattern of cheetah print. Girls if you want a sexy kitty costume follow his lead and just throw on some ears.

5. Jean Paul Gautier - Gatita Sexy

Jean Paul Gaultier siempre hace que sus desfiles sean atractivos y divertidos. El muestra una mezcla de estilo y peculiaridad que solo el puede obtener. La variedad que muestra siempre inspira. Vi estos dos looks y pensé que eran una manera divertida, diferente y creativa para el disfraz de gato. Este disfraz siempre es uno de los mas populares y mas fáciles de ponerse en Halloween. Jean Paul Gaultier usa el estampado dominante de piel de chita, entonces niñas si quieren un disfraz sexy de gatita sigan su guía y solo agreguen las orejitas.

6. Ulyana Sergeenko - French Maid

Another designer I do not know much about is Ulyana Sergeenko, nevertheless her couture collection impressed me a lot. It had a very Old Russian, Tsarist feel and I enjoyed every single one of her looks. I decided to choose these two looks, based on contrast, however very different on sex appeal level, but hey there is something for everyone´s comfort level! The French maid costume is a popular choice every year, and here are two very different examples that may appeal to you. Or you may just choose something in between the two!

6. Ulyana Sergeenko - Mucama Francesa

Otra diseñadora que no conocía mucho es Ulyana Sergeenko, de todas formas su colección me impresiono bastante. Tiene un aire a moda Rusa y el estilo en el tiempo de los Zares, y disfrute todos los looks de su colección. Decidí escoger estos dos looks, basados en contraste, con niveles muy diferentes de sex appeal, pero aquí hay algo para el nivel de confort de todos! El disfraz de mucama Francesa es popular todos los años, y aquí hay dos muy diferentes ejemplos que les pueden gustar. O podrían escoger algo en la mitad!

7. Valentino - Conservative Nun

Valentino is one of the design houses which always has the best couture shows. This time around the styling was great, and the looks even better! By analyzing the whole I got a sense that the collection was inspired by the Vatican. When I visited Italy, Vatican city and the abundant exquisite art was one of the sites that marked my trip and has inspired me the most throughout the years. I chose two of the most simple looks, yet one can see that there is beauty in simplicity. These two looks made me think of really cute ways of dressing up as a nun, for the girls who like to keep it cute and simple on Halloween. However, let your hair down and paint your face a little bit with some scars and dark eyes, and you have the best options for a scary American Horror Story inspired costume.

7. Valentino - Monja Conservadora

Valentino es una de las casas de moda que siempre tienen los mejores desfiles de couture. Esta ves el styling de las modelos fue genial, y los looks hasta mejores! Analizando toda la colección me da a entender que fue inspirada por el Vaticano. Cuando visite Italia, la ciudad del Vaticano y la cantidad de arte exquisito fue uno de los sitios que mas marco mi viaje, y que me ha inspirado durante estos años. Escogí dos de los looks mas simples, pero uno puede ver que la simplicidad tiene su belleza. Estos dos looks me hicieron pensar de dos tiernas maneras de disfrazarse de monja, para las niñas que les gusta lo tierno y lo simple en Halloween. Pero si quieres soltarte el pelo y pintarte la cara un poco con cicatrices y ojos oscuros tienes las mejores opciones para un disfraz sacado de American Horror Story.

8. Zuhair Murad - Grecian Goddesses

Zuhair Murad´s shows are always full of beauty! He makes each one of his models look like princesses. In this case I chose these two looks that based on the tones (off-white and gold) and the techniques he uses for draping reminded me of the elegance that one associates with a grecian Goddess.

8. Zuhair Murad - Diosas Griegas

Los desfiles de Zuhair Murad siempre están llenos de belleza! El hace que cada una de sus modelos se vea como una princesa. En este caso seleccione estos dos looks que basados en los tonos (crema y dorado) y las técnicas que usa para la caída de la tela me acuerda de la elegancia que uno asocia con una diosa Griega.
